Heat loss by natural convection

Technical data > Thermic calculations > Heat loss by natural convection

Heating surface in ambient air according to the simplified formula of Mac Adams.

DT = difference in temperature between the heating surface and the ambient air
h1 = Coefficient of convection of an horizontal plate, heating side upwards
h2 = Coefficient of convection of an horizontal plate, heating side downwards
h3 = Coefficient of convection of a vertical plate higher than 0.3m
h4 = Coefficient of convection of a vertical plate smaller than 0.3m

Chart of the power dispersed by convection in Watt/m2 according to the DT and the type of surface :

power = f (dT )
